Welcome to the new Artworks by Shannon!

Welcome new and returning visitors alike! We have made some very substantial changes to the site that we hope you will enjoy. Check out Compusure Solutions web site if you like the site and are in need of a web site or some help with your current project. More to come on that! If you don’t know already…

I am a freelance artist and illustrator and have been taking commissions on pet/horse portraits and western and wildlife art for over 10 years. I have just recently begun taking commissions on sports players, teams, and Nascar drivers/other sports for people who want their idea sketched or painted. I have had a few small shows over the years in local galleries, and have won awards in contests involving artists that are non professional. I have since become a full time, professional artist, looking forward to making people happy with my creations.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions or comments! Look for FREE TUTORIALS coming soon!!

PLEASE NOTE: All artwork on this site is copyrighted and may not be copied, printed off, or saved onto your computer or other devices without EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT!  Thank -you, Shannon

Sports art is back!

Hey all!!  I just wanted to let you know that I am now taking commissions on SPORTS art again!  NHL, Nascar, Football .. ANY sport!  Original artwork only .. absolutely no reproductions or prints available on sports artwork.

Please note that a couple of the works under Hockey and Sports Portraits Gallery (heading on the left) are currently unfinished,  I will upload the finished artwork as soon as they are done.

I would also really appreciate any feedback on which sports players you would like to see!

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks to all who have been visiting and requesting further information!

I will be doing more tutorials .. if you have a request for one, let me know. I am always interested in helping other artists with techniques and exchanging ideas.

If you have any ideas on how I can improve the site, or what you would like to see more of..feel free to contact me!

Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy my work :)

How to sketch realistic looking people

How I Sketch Realistic Pencil Portraits of People

Just a few quick notes before we start.

The materials I have used for this portrait are:

*14 x 17″ Strathmore - acid free, medium weight drawing paper

*Bruynzeel design - artist soft pencils in 3B, 4B, 6B and 8B

*A good quality eraser, and also a kneadable eraser for lightening if needed

*A few soft Q-tips (for blending skin tones), and blending stumps (made of rolled paper)

*A bit of learning, fun and patience!! (not materials, but things you will need!)

This is the photo I was given to sketch from. As you can see, it was not the best clear quality to use for the purpose of sketching!

Pastel portrait of “Rural Affair”

This is a commissioned 22 x 30″ pastel portrait of “Rural Affair.” Two black and white portraits, fading into the color raceshot of the racehorse was nice to do! The gold nameplate added great contrast.
